A backflow preventer is a one-way gate between your property and the public water supply. Irrigation systems, commercial kitchens, boilers and fire lines all create cross-connections where water could otherwise flow backwards into the main, which is why utilities require these assemblies to be tested by a certified tester on a schedule.
We are certified to test, and we carry repair parts, so a failed assembly does not mean a second appointment and a second trip charge. If it can be repaired we repair it and retest the same visit. If it genuinely needs replacing we will tell you that plainly rather than selling you a rebuild that will not hold.

Common Questions
How often does a backflow preventer need testing?
Most jurisdictions require assemblies on commercial properties and irrigation systems to be tested annually by a certified tester, and your water utility will usually send a notice when yours is due. If you are not sure whether your property has an assembly or when it was last certified, call us and we will find out.
What actually happens during a test?
We isolate the assembly, connect a calibrated test kit to the test cocks, and check that each check valve and the relief valve hold pressure the way they are supposed to. It takes a few minutes per assembly. If it passes we file the certification; if it fails we tell you what failed and what it takes to fix it.
What if it fails the test?
Usually a rubber seat, a spring, or a check assembly has worn out, and a repair kit sorts it. Occasionally an assembly is old enough or damaged enough that replacement is the honest answer. Either way you get the price before we do the work, and we retest and certify once it is repaired.
Why does backflow prevention matter?
A backflow preventer stops water flowing the wrong way back into the public supply. On an irrigation system that could mean fertilizer and standing groundwater; on a commercial property it could be far worse. That is why the testing requirement exists and why utilities enforce it.
